TopChef

  • I have recently gotten into cooking, however I am not very good at it. Frustrated by the fact that I could not cook a good chicken breast, I began my search for an app that would help me learn how to cook and improve my skills. I found flaws in most of the apps I looked into and none of them were exactly what I was looking for. My goal was to create an app that would be a fun an interactive way for users to learn how to cook, share recipes with friends, and keep track of recipes they have made.

  • Driven by a simple way for me to learn how to cook, I researched existing cooking apps and the services they provided. Then, I looked into how recipes are traditionally structured to see if there is a more clear way of presenting the steps of the recipe and found it would be helpful to include the amount of ingredient in the directions. My target audience consists of people who have limited experience cooking and would like to learn how to make impressive and delicious recipes.

  • Based on my experience and research, I developed TopChef, a tool that teaches users how to cook through the completion of simple training levels, and application of the learned skills to real recipes that are easily understandable and consistent. Within the app, users have access to a plethora of recipes with which they are able to practice and refine their skills. The app teaches users how to use kitchen tools, how to perform a multitude of skills, and it allows them to track their progress. Through this app users will be able to improve their cooking skills, track their progress, and share the recipes they made with their friends.
